Getting this to work with Magento 9.17740

I couldn't find a download for Magento 0.8.16100; so I installed 9.17740 (Latest at this time); I tried to edit config manually and it said No Database Found; I'm pretty sure my settings are correct; so I concluded that it doesn't work with this version but I want to find out for sure. So my questions is has this been test with 9.17740?
This product is great; it works very good in phpBB; a real site saver.
