Fatal Error message when user change password

For your information:
We are experiencing the same problem with joomla as master and smf as slave.

i don't think the problem has anything to do with who is master and who is slave, i think the problem has to do with different cookie settings in joomla / smf, as of yet i am still unable to recreate it.

Hi, I know this thread is old but I have absolutely same problem with the final release of jfusion and SMF 2 in frameless mode (and joomla 1.7) . When I try to change my password, I got
"Fatal error: session_start() [<a href='function.session-start'>function.session-start</a>]: Failed to initialize storage module: user (path: /tmp) in /home/grandscs/public_html/forum/Sources/Load.php on line 2378"
and the pass is not changed and after I back - I'm logged out from SMF (only). The strange think is that - when i change somethink else in the profile, in example the security question and the password, and submit, I got the same Fatal error message, BUT the security question is changed.
I search alot, but with no success. Sry if the problem was solved anywhere, but i will be very grateful if help me
