Question: vBulletin + PhotoPost Classifieds + JFusion

Postby Omar Alansari on Sat Aug 15, 2009 12:00 pm

Hi All,

Its great to find such a modification, I really admire your work. I just have a question regarding the integration of JFusion, vBulletin and PhotoPost Classifieds.

I have vBulletin and PhotoPost Classifieds integrated together and using the same username and password database. Now that I decided to use Joomla as y CMS. I would like to check if I use JFusion to integrate Joomla with vBulletin will that cause an issue if I am using PhotoPost Classifieds in there as well?

Regards,
Omar

Well, since I have received no reply(ies), I went ahead with the integration and it worked just fine. No issues encountered however photopost classifieds needs to be shown within a wrapper. It would be nice if it can be done similarly to vbulletin and show it frameless.

The JFusion API could help you there;

With jfusion 1.20, there will be a new method of Frameless.
I think there will be renewed chance that some vB plugins that didn't work with the current Frameless method will work in this method.
Alan, might be able to help you as to why Photopost Classifieds is not Frameless compatible. It is usually/often a CSS issue.

1.2.0 will also have a css parser feature that will remove 95% (a rough guess) of all the css conflicts, can properly be improved as other conflicts are founded, and added to the default.css file in jfusion.

Just as a heads up, I may or may not implement the new frameless method for vBulletin. The reason being that in my initial tests, performance is significantly affected. It takes as much as 10 seconds for the page to load. Also, many of vb's js functions do not work correctly via curl. I may implement it as an option but not guaranteed. I still have plans to do some more testing.

In general, CSS parsing is already implemented for the vB plugin. vB dynamically generates the CSS and adds it to the header within <style> tags. It does not use CSS files. Thus, core vB will not be compatible with the new CSS parser that will go into JFusion 1.2 which many of the other plugins will benefit greatly from. However, if the vbulletin plugins use included CSS files rather than using vB's core CSS generator, then vb frameless will be benefited from the new CSS parser.

Thanks,
Alan

the jfusion css parser also supports this tho it's not super tested yet as i have not founded any apps that do this !
