expected is the number of pictures specified, however, it always defaults to just 1

Re: gallery2 image block does not show more than 1 image
In Gallery 2 you need to edit the album then theme and then image block and tell image block how many images you want to be displayed, the default is 1 image, change it after you select the word image block from the Blocks to show in the sidebar section which is not far down from the top of theme settings.

Re: gallery2 image block does not show more than 1 image
Hi,
I seem to have a similar (if not the same) problem - I need to show 4 recent images from Gallery2 on the frontpage of my site, so I copied the JFusion Activity Module (I already use it for phpBB on the same site), changed the plug in to Gallery2 and view to Gallery2 Image Block, setting # of images to 4 - yet only one is displayed.
I tried going to the top album and enabling image block for its side bar (which I can't see, btw), setting its # of images to 4 - no luck. Also changed the default theme to have the image block in the side bar, with 4 images - still no change. I cleared all cache in Joomla too, so that should not be the issue.
The main thing that confuses me about your reply, Peter_AUS, is that I need to configure image block displayed on the front page, yet you say to add and configure image block in the albums - are they really related? If yes, then what am I missing?
Please help
Best regards,
NPC

NPC Yes and No on Peter's answer. There are two ways to create Image blocks when you are using Jfusion.
1. You can use the Module (mod_jfusion_activity) and thereby put it wherever you want in your Joomla theme. I believe both of the questions about the random image number is based off this. On my site I went in and edited the Module and under module parameters I clicked "Select" next to Jfusion plugin. There is an option to choose the number of images. No matter what I put in there I only seem to get one. Since the writer of the Gallery 2 module has been missing in action I don't know if this can get fixed.
I don't know if you can add multiple Module (mod_jfusion_activity) blocks. Never tried that.
Due to this limitation on one of my sites, I use the Mtense.com (there are discussion about it on this site) Joomla Image Block Slideshow module. It will show as many images as I want, only using one Joomla module but it slideshows through them and since it's a Joomla module I can control where it is placed.
Second method
2.You can add Gallery 2 Image Block(s) directly in Gallery 2. The limitation on this, is you can put it in the main content area (from Joomla's perspective) in the Album or Item views of Gallery 2 but it does in fact create multiple picture blocks. Theres multiple ways to get there but from Peter's example, edit the album (whichever album you want or the highest level album) click the "Theme" tab then under "Blocks to show on album pages" and/or "Blocks to show on Photo pages" you can add the "Image Block". Then you must select the "Image Block" that was added under the album or photo pages, and it will give you more options to edit (like what types of photos, random or new, etc...) including an option for number of images. If you edit it here, it will provide as many images as you select either in the album or photo pages (and you can have different types of blocks or number of photos based on if it's a album or photo page.)

The reason I said Yes they are related as part of my answer, is the jfusion_activity_module is relying on the code base and hooks provided by Gallery 2's image block so in that sense they are "related" except you are setting all the same parameters for the module that you would if you are using Image Block "internally" to Gallery 2 (in method two.)
The reason I said No as part of my answer is setting the parameters in the jfusion_activity_module doesn't really relate to setting the parameters for a Gallery 2 internal image block like you attempted.
I haven't read through the code but I don't believe Mtense's slideshow gallery relies on the Image Block hooks although it does rely on the Gallery 2 API's to determine and pull photo's etc... My belief is that why it can do a multi picture slideshow in one module. Plus Mtense added the feature where you could install multiple modules and have multiple slideshows going on which is pretty cool.

A little confirmation for my hypothesis. Although there is an option for number of blocks in the Jfusion Activity Module the Gallery 2 information implicitly states that number of blocks is not an option when using an "external" image block. Meaning the API for Image Block doesn't support using multiple image blocks. That makes me assume to resolve this for the Jfusion Activity module you would need to be able to install two Jfusion Activity modules, I don't know if that's possible (I know it's possible with Mtense's slideshow.)

Re: gallery2 image block does not show more than 1 image
Thanks Kyle, for clearing all of that up, I think my statement, was in relation to one thing where the question was in relation to another aspect of the usage of gallery2 images, hence I most likely started a bit of confusion. Sorry if that was the case to the other users.
Still be nice if someone that actually knew gallery2 and could implement a proper implementation of the Gallery2/Jfusion plugin could work on it, as I am sure this is a sticking point in this part of the integration.
If you want to see my site that I have running, the home page is www.passionforpixels.com which does have the full integration for Joomla1.5.18/vbulletin3.8.5/gallery2.3.1 with jFusion 1.2.4
I have tried a lot of different settings within the Rockbridge Slide module and still am unable to resolve the clipping of the images.

Re: gallery2 image block does not show more than 1 image
Kyle, thank you very much for your detailed answer.
It is a shame that the parameter does not work, that would be the easiest solution. Strangely, in the module provided by g2bridge (also supported by sil3nt before he dissapeared) did allow specifying the number of images. Migrating from that component (because it had a sudden vulnerability, and generally I'd like to reduce the number of 3rd party components I use on the site, to simplify maintenance), I really miss that feature.
For now I think you are right that I will have to try to go with that slideshow - thank you for the help and advice, and will try to do that.
Having several JFusion activity modules is possible (I have two - one for phpBB and one for Gallery2), yet adding more for Gallery2 will not help me (or anyone?), as I can't set the offset for the other modules to show "2nd most recent image", "3rd most recent image" and so on. If you know of a way to do this - that may also be a solution to this problem
Best regards,
NPC

Re: gallery2 image block does not show more than 1 image
Can somebody perhaps tell me what part of JFusion code corresponds to the handling of Gallery2 JFusion Activity Module? I'd like to see what is happening there, and JFusion is such a complex system (for somebody not too familiar with PHP), that I can't follow the code from the module itself (very general, though forum-oriented) to the handling of the plugin-specific logic.
What I want to do is compare it with the g2bridge code that does similar things, and may be (oh may be) it won't be too difficult to make the JFusion Activity Module use the setting of how many images to display. May be I will fail - but I think it's worth a try.
