myBB and JFusion

Postby mariusvr on Fri Jan 09, 2009 6:00 am

Please see my post on the myBB forum for more details on the development status of myBB. Please approach us if you want to help with the development of the JFusion myBB plugin:

RE: [ANYONE?] Help Jfusion project!
It is unfortunate the myBB is the only community that does not want to get involved with JFusion and expose itself to the million of Joomla users. We support people from many different communities that were very motivated to make their product integrate with an award winning CMS. Here is a usage comparison between the popular CMS's for those people mentioning Drupal:

http://www.google.com/trends?q=joomla%2C...l%2C+mambo

As the lead developer of JFusion, the myBB plugin is not a priority for me anymore. The funny thing about it is, that most of hard work has already been done as a myBB plugin already exists. However, myBB community does not seem to care about a CMS integration or is too small to even get a response. Either way, it does not justify me spending time on the further development of the myBB JFusion plugin.

Hopefully this might change in the future. Thanks, Marius

How can we help?
- Easy. If you're an able developer, you could take up the responsibility of continuing the development of the MyBB plugin. Most important is your competence with MyBB's technicalities, seeing as jFusion can offer a lot of guidance when it comes to the extension itself as well as Joomla!, though a high general level of webdev competence is rather imperative.

Where can we help?
- If you're not quite able to support this plugin yourself, your help is most needed in the MyBB community, where you should take every opportunity you can to speak jFusion's cause, get the attention of as many potential plugin developers as possible and expand your network to share it with us.

What have to be done?
- Continue the existing work for the MyBB plugin...

I have tried shedding some light on the contemporary thread at MyBB.
Please only use PMs for sensitive information, otherwise the forum will always be the quickest source to support.

Thank you for your answer. Iam able to continue the developement of the plugin through my knowledge of the MyBB and general Webdev.
A documentation of the JFusion API would be very usefull for plugin developers. My understanding of JFusion is the following:
The plugin provides a class with functions which are called by the JFusion system itselfs. The function just have to return some information.
But where can i find which functions will be called or are general available?

I am still unsure why I can't view the sub domain here in India(can do so using a Proxy), but here it is anyway;

Watch the Installation video tutorial here.

Hi,

I just replied to the thread here and left a suggestion here for what I consider a viable human solution to the problem at hand.

As I replied at the MyBB forums, I was looking forward to move away from SMF and frankly MyBB is quite a better choice for my needs (I have several years with SMF and a ~2500 user community, and I previously used phpBB before SMF), sadly the visual integration and the lack of other features won't make this possible.

I seriously hope I have some time to give to this plugin. What is the status for it right now?, is there a list with the concrete problems/tasks to be solved?, will the panorama be any better for this plugin with JFusion 2.0?.

Regards,

David

no to my knowledge no one has taken the task. so no improvements have been made.

-Thanks

I see, well, I'll start to do some clean testing tomorrow and start enlisting issues in the tracker. Should I be looking into the JFusion 1.2.4 or the svn codebase at http://code.google.com/p/jfusion/source/list?.

Yep, I meant using Redmine, but should I look for bugs using the latest stable release of JFusion or the svn code?.
